SgurrEnergy has provided solutions to Floating Solar Photo Voltaic (FSPV/FPV) projects globally with a specialized team dedicated for delivering FPV projects.

Preparing solutions for FPV requires special engineering skills. Discovering new frontiers in the quest to find sustainable solutions has always been an engineer’s pursuit. FPV is one such avenue where we have successfully capitalized installation of floating solar panels on the water surface. The challenges of the water are different from the land, the solar panels need to be installed on the floats that consider various design critical parameters such as corrosion due to humidity in the vicinity, the wind speeds and hydrodynamic loads that would determine the anchors and mooring lines, the location, water type and type of structures predominantly dictate the design of the solution.

This is a relatively new entrant in the Solar PV segment, and demands a special skill set to devise and develop solutions, a project assessment usually entails a comprehensive understanding of the water body the FPV will be installed on. Technical approach in understanding the meteorological data at project location. Site Flood risk assessment to identify any potential risk in the system and to provide appropriate and adequate mitigation solution.

Evaluating the drag force in the system by performing CFD as per the site wind rose diagram. Technical review of mooring lines and suggesting the type of mooring cables.

Technical review of anchoring system. Hydrodynamic analysis for estimating wave height using different statistical formula to ensure the stability in the system and avoid any catastrophic failure.
