Project summary
SgurrEnergy is providing Owner’s Engineering design review for Intersect Power’s Roman utility-scale solar PV project in the United States, rated at 700 MWdc / 500 MWac. The assignment covers electrical design reviews at the 30%, 60%, 90%, IFC and as-built stages, together with independent assessment of engineering packages, studies and technical documentation. Reviews address layout, calculations, specifications, load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, neutral-induced voltage, ampacity and grounding. A structured risk matrix and comment-closure workflow support rapid milestone decisions.
Project context
Roman is a large utility-scale solar PV project comprising multiple array areas and major collection and interconnection interfaces. Intersect Power required an independent Owner’s Engineering function capable of reviewing evolving design packages through successive maturity gates. The assignment therefore combines technical assurance, power-system study review, risk prioritisation, interface management and disciplined closure of engineering comments.

SgurrEnergy acted as the Owner’s Engineering consultant for the 500 MWac / 700 MWdc Solar PV project in the United States. The team coordinated the relevant engineering disciplines, technical interfaces, studies, design documentation and stakeholder inputs across the assignment lifecycle. The role was structured to improve technical clarity, compliance, constructability and traceable closure of design matters.
Our engineering approach
SgurrEnergy applied a multidisciplinary, interface-led approach based on a common design basis, defined review gates and traceable technical closure. Engineering inputs were assessed not only within individual disciplines but also for their effects on adjacent systems, constructability, procurement and grid integration.
